A LITTLE CARE GOES A LONG WAY
We work with premium Italian bovine leather, chosen for its beauty, strength, and timeless character. Because leather is a natural material, it responds best to thoughtful care. With the right aftercare, your handbag will continue to age gracefully while maintaining its shape and finish. To help protect it from everyday wear, we offer a gentle leather spray designed specifically for fine materials

The Nanex spray for textile and leather provides protection against water and stains. It sets a thin layer across the leather surface and stitching area. Spraying your leather item gives it an extra coating which protects your favourite piece against rain and dirt.
How to use:
Ensure your leather item is clean and dry before use.
Shake the Nanex can well before using. Spray your handbag evenly from a distance of 20 to 30cm. Do not saturate. Allow your item to dry 24 hours. For an optimal effect, repeat this action by applying a second coating.
CARE TIPS
If you use your handbag on a daily or regular basis, we recommend treating it with a protectant spray such as Nanex every 4 weeks. Spray your handbag evenly from a distance of 20cm. For an optimal effect, repeat this action by applying a second coating. Let your bag dry 24h before using or storing. Leather is unique in the sense that it's strong and durable yet still a living and natural material. Always keep in mind that even if you are protecting your bag regularly with a protectant spray, leather is never entirely waterproof. Therefore, it is best to avoid heavy rainfall. If you, however, end up in an unexpected rain shower, make sure to dry your bag at once. Smooth leather is the most fragile kind, so make sure to be gentle with your bag.
A Celebration of Leather’s Natural Beauty and Craftsmanship
This handbag is made from the highest quality leather, free from any polyurethane (PU) coating. This ensures that the natural beauty of the leather remains visible, rather than being hidden under an artificial layer. Without PU, the leather retains its rich texture, soft feel, and natural breathability, allowing it to age gracefully over time. However, this also means that the bag requires proper care.
To preserve its beauty, keep your bag away from sharp objects that could scratch the surface. Over time, the leather will develop a unique patina, making it even more beautiful. To protect it from rain and dirt, we recommend occasionally spraying it with Nanex, a protective treatment that helps maintain its condition.
It is important to understand that leather is a natural material, and like all natural products, it will show signs of use over time. This is not a flaw but rather part of its charm. We must learn to embrace these imperfections as a mark of authenticity, a reminder that only plastic remains unchanged.
The Art of Italian Handcraftsmanship
Each handbag is entirely handmade by skilled Italian artisans, following centuries-old traditions. In today’s world, where mass production dominates, true craftsmanship is becoming rare. We believe that handwork should be cherished and respected, which is why small irregularities are not considered defects but rather a testament to the artisan’s touch.
The Truth About Leather
Every piece of leather comes from a living being, just like human skin. Just as no two people have identical skin, no two pieces of leather are exactly alike. You may notice small wrinkles, scars, or natural markings—these are not flaws but rather a story of the animal’s life. By embracing these natural characteristics, we reduce waste and minimize environmental impact, ensuring that every hide is used to its fullest potential.
By choosing this handbag, you are not just buying a product—you are investing in true craftsmanship, natural beauty, and sustainability.
HARDWARE & FINISH INFORMATION
At Zarina Rouge, we are committed to making conscious choices that prioritize environmental responsibility, human health, and more sustainable production methods. For this reason, we intentionally select materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes that reduce the use of certain aggressive chemicals and treatments commonly used within the fashion industry.
Many conventional metal coatings and finishing techniques are designed to create highly uniform and long-lasting surfaces through intensive chemical processing. While effective in some respects, these methods may involve substances and production practices that are less aligned with our environmental values.
As part of our commitment to more responsible manufacturing, we choose finishes that have a lower environmental impact and that support a more mindful approach to production. An inherent characteristic of these finishes is that they may naturally evolve over time when exposed to everyday use and environmental conditions.
Natural Evolution of Hardware
Metal hardware and decorative components, including buckles, chains, clasps, eyelets, studs, rings, zippers, and other metal elements, may develop slight variations in appearance throughout the life of the product.
This may include:
Changes in colour intensity
Light fading or darkening
Natural oxidation or patina formation
Surface marks caused by friction
Changes resulting from exposure to environmental elements
These characteristics are a normal consequence of the materials and finishing methods chosen and reflect the natural ageing process of the product.
Environmental and External Influences
The appearance of hardware can be influenced by numerous external factors beyond our control, including:
Rain, humidity, and moisture
Sea air and salt exposure
Sunlight and UV radiation
Perspiration and natural skin chemistry
Perfumes, lotions, cosmetics, and personal care products
Cleaning agents and household chemicals
Friction from clothing, bags, accessories, and daily wear
Storage conditions and temperature fluctuations
Because each product is worn, handled, and stored differently, changes may occur at different rates and in varying degrees.
A Conscious Choice
The gradual evolution of certain finishes should not be viewed as a flaw but rather as a consequence of a more environmentally conscious production philosophy. By choosing materials and finishing processes that place greater emphasis on sustainability and reduced chemical impact, we accept that some components may show signs of natural ageing sooner than products treated with heavier industrial coatings.
This approach allows us to move toward more responsible production practices while reducing reliance on certain chemical-intensive treatments.
Important Information
Variations in colour, finish, patina, oxidation, and wear resulting from normal use, environmental exposure, friction, storage conditions, or contact with external substances are natural characteristics of the product and are not considered manufacturing defects.
These aesthetic changes do not affect the functionality, performance, or structural integrity of the product and are part of the expected lifecycle of hardware finished according to environmentally conscious production standards.
By purchasing and using our products, customers acknowledge that natural changes in the appearance of hardware and metal finishes may occur over time and are an inherent characteristic of the materials and finishing methods selected.
